The Elite Hyperfire Blaster is the latest Nerf Gun to hit the market. The main reason this is one of the top 10 toys for Christmas 2016 is because it is the fastest firing Nerf Gun ever, in fact it can unleash five darts per second (DPS). The toy is accompanied by a 25-Dart Drum, which allows users to absolutely dominate the battle ground. On this Nerf N-Strike Elite Hyperfire Blaster – Hot Toys 2016 Christmas page we will cover why this toy is one of the best Christmas toys this year. Why is the Elite Hyperfire Blaster One of the Hot Toys for 2016 Christmas?
Performance
The Hyperfire can be operated like any other fly-wheeler. Press the rev trigger spins up the flywheels and then pulling the trigger fires the darts. The Hyperfire has good range, reaching up to 10 meters with a single shot when the flywheels are at maximum power. The range decreases to between 5-6 meters when firing automatically. This toy is actually all about Rate Of Fire (ROF). It’s capable of firing five darts per second. Because this gun features a conveyor belt system, you should use new darts as it will not work optimally with old and misshapen darts. The extreme rate of fire is a major reason why it is one of the hot toys 2016 Christmas.
Many Nerf fans adored the Rapidstrike blaster which has a very good ergonomic design and is more traditional in terms of appearance, however thought the ROF was too low. The new Hyperfire aims to address this issue but does have a very different ergonomic approach. If you want more info on these two blasters, our dedicated website where we review and compare the two.
Design and Appearance
This nerf gun has a unique aesthetic which looks very different from other blasters. It features a big-barreled front end and has a slight Sci-Fi appearance. The toy gains power from 4 D batteries which are placed in the stock at the rear and act as a good counter-weight to the large front-end of the Nerf gun. The Hyperfire gun uses a large 25-Dart Drum cartridge which is designed for Elite Darts. This component gives the toy its bulky look and the mechanism used for clipping it in and out has been very well designed, it feels strong and even makes a quality sound when being detached or inserted.
The stock comprises a hand port for holding the weapon, a thumb port and a trigger well for firing. This way of holding the weapon is far more modern than found on previous Nerf models and seems to be sub machine gun-inspired. In terms of color, the toy is mainly blue and features hints of orange in various areas such as on the stock, the cheek rest pad, the barrel and the trigger well area. This appealing contrast is far nicer than the white-orange contrast and is further enhanced by a new pattern called tiger camouflage that shines over the whole gun in the light.
Modification Possibilities
The Nerf N-Strike Elite Hyperfire , as with all fly-wheelers, can be customized in a myriad of ways. Either the range or ROF can be enhanced by simply using a rewire, re-switch and a battery pack. One customer actually suggested cutting the entire stock off and taping the battery pack back onto the side of the front of the main body. This would result in a more compact SMG-type of format.

Elite Hyperfire Blaster Features
Conveyor-Belt System
This Nerf Gun utilizes a new conveyor belt mechanism in order to feed the darts to the spinning flywheels. This differs a lot from the older pusher-stick mechanism found on the RapidStrike and other previous models but is also the reason that the high ROF can be achieved. The belt has grippy tabs on it that are designed to grab the darts and propel them forward in fast succession. The conveyor spins and then when you pull the trigger, the darts are sequentially passed into the flywheels which shoot them out of the barrel.
25-Dart Drum Cartridge
Probably the most notable or identifiable feature on the Hyperfire is the drum cartridge which is capable of holding 25 darts. This feature ensures that users enter the battle field well prepared with maximum fire power and is another reason this Nerf gun is one of the hot toys 2016 Christmas. A special release button makes it easy to insert and detach the cartridge, you can press this with a simple extension of your middle finger. This keeps the other hand free so you can grab and replace the cartridge easily in the heat of battle.
Dart Spin
The Nerf N-Strike Elite Hyperfire has flywheels which are slightly canted or slanted so as to turn the darts as they are propelled forward. This puts a spin on the darts, which creates tighter groupings and therefore better accuracy. This is a great feature because accuracy often becomes an issue with a high ROF.
Sling-Points
The new Hyperfire has many sling points. Four main sling attachment points exist, two at the front, one on top of the the barrel and one below it. Two are at the rear of the stock, once again one is at the top and one is at the bottom. We like this as it allows you to carry your Nerf gun exactly as you feel most comfortable, keeps it safe by ensuring you don’t drop it and it also affords you the choice to use it as your primary or as your secondary while in a battle.
User Comfort
All the grips and pads on this Nerf Gun feature a type of ribbing that feels like rubber. The ribbing can be found, most noticeably, on the fore-grip and the shoulder pad. The ribs give you a good grip and enhance movement and agility. The Hyperfire also comes with a Cheek Rest or Cheek Pad. Originally this idea comes from real sniper rifles. This piece allows users to rest their cheek on the top of the stock of the blaster while aiming down the site. Perhaps in the future this will be height adjustable.
Bottom Line
Overall this is a great blaster and definitely the Nerf Gun to buy this Christmas. To point out the negatives, the new conveyor system does means you will need new darts and that older or flattened darts are out of the question. On the positive side of things, we like that the new mechanism enables such a high rate of fire. We like that this gun looks different and has a different feel to it, it’s unlike any previous models and 25-dart drum barrel makes it look awesome. We also like that the flywheels are canted and that this creates a tighter grouping of darts. There is no question that this is Nerf Gun to buy for this holiday season and the new features have definitely made it one of the hot toys 2016 Christmas.
